On February 7, 2004, five Jacki's instructors
in New Jersey held a Dance-a-thon to raise
money for Dress for Success, a non-profit organization
that helps low-income women make a successful transition
into the workplace by providing work-appropriate attire
and helping them move toward self-sufficiency and job
retention through participation in a Professional Women's
Group. Congratulations to all involved for a highly
successful event.
Pictured above are the instructors who put on this event (L to R):

Val Bury's class in Michigan shows off
the original Hooked on Dancin' T-shirt from Fall
1983. Val's 17 students have a total
accumulation of 287.5 years of dancing!
That's an average of 17 years each! Val says,
"Now that is what I call dedication to the program
and to me. What a great bunch of gals!"
Still Hooked on Dancin' certainly applies to this

Birthday
Quilt
When one
of Shelley McAlister's students,
Jan, moved to Florida,
another student Kathy, a
talented quilter, made her a pillow that the class could all
sign. Unbeknownst to Shelley, at the same time, Kathy
asked the students to bring in old session T-shirts, and she
made Shelley a quilt out of them for her birthday.
Shelley
says, "I can't begin to tell you how much this quilt means
to me and how much my students mean to me. They are the
best group of friends anyone could ask for. I'm sure many
of you experience the same thing with your classes.
Jacki's programs have brought us together in a very special way,
and I will be forever thankful." Shelley teaches
Aerobic Dancing classes in Flint, Michigan. |

Marie
Burnell, an inspiration in Michigan
Val Bury,
instructor in St. Joseph, Michigan, presented a
session T-shirt to her student, Marie
Burnell, who has been dancing since
1981. Upon presentation of the T-shirt, Val said to
Marie, "I would like to present this session shirt I
Got the Music in Me as a token of appreciation and
achievement to Marie Burnell
because she has the 'music in her' and has been in
Jacki's programs since 1981. She is such an
inspiration and looks great! She always has a
GREAT smile, and I love her friendship. Marie,
don't ever lose those qualities about yourself,
OK? Congratulations!" In addition to
Aerobic Dancing, Marie line dances two nights a week,
and two mornings a week she enjoys weight- and
cross-training at a local health club! That's truly an
active lifestyle to be proud of! |
